ELECTIONS:

-
Voters must register at least 30 days prior to the election. An application for voter registration must be postmarked or hand delivered to the Circuit Clerk's Office located in the county of your voting residence no later than 30 days before an election.
-
For your vote to count, you must be registered in Madison County, and you should vote at the precinct where you live. If you have moved from one location to another in Madison County but have not changed your address with the Circuit Clerk, you should still go to the precinct for the area in which you live. Your name will not be on the poll book at that location, but you should vote by affidavit. After the polls close, all affidavits are reviewed by the Election Commission. Once your name is found on the Madison County voter rolls, the Election Commissioners will then verify your information. Once your information is found to be valid, your vote will be counted, and your information will be updated in the system.
-
Absentee ballots should be available 45 days prior to the election and are available at the Circuit Clerk's office.
-
Photo ID is required to vote. You will be required to present an acceptable form of photo identification when you vote at your polling place on Election Day or by absentee ballot in your Circuit Clerk's Office, unless exempted by law. Q & A

WHERE DO I REGISTER TO VOTE?
At the Circuit Clerk's office for the county where you reside. If you own multiple properties, the county where you need to register to vote will be based on the address where you lay your head each night.
To register in Madison County, scroll back to the top of this page and follow the instructions. You can also register through the DMV by updating your driver's license information - they will forward the information to us.

IF I AM MILITARY OR A CITIZEN RESIDING OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTY, HOW DO I REGISTER AND REQUEST A BALLOT?
You will need to fill out and file a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) with your Circuit Clerk. You can submit this form directly to our office at anita.wray@madison-co.com. However, it is best to submit the form on SafeVoteMS.
The FPCA is valid until the end of the year, so you only need to submit it once. This will allow military and overseas citizens to register and vote safely online.

HOW DO I KNOW WHERE I VOTE?
Your voter registration card tells you where to vote. However, if you have moved and have not updated your address, the precinct on your card may not be correct. You can still vote, however. You will be required to go to your new polling location and vote by affidavit. That will update your voter information in our system. Click here to find your new polling location and be sure to use your current address. Mississippi Law requires you to vote where you live.

CAN I VOTE ABSENTEE?
You must meet certain qualifications to vote absentee. The most common reasons include: over 65, disabled/temporary disability, work hours, student away at college, out of the county or out of the country. If you meet any of those qualifications, you may vote absentee in the Circuit Clerk's office 45 days prior to the election. Please come to the clerk's office with photo ID and tell the deputy clerk why you need to vote absentee. The clerk will let you sign an affidavit stating why you need to vote absentee and let you cast your vote.

CAN I GET AN ABSENTEE BALLOT MAILED TO ME?
Yes. However, we strongly urge you to vote in person if you are able to. If not, you can request a ballot 60 days in advance to be mailed to you. If you are disabled and can't get to the polls, you can request a ballot to be mailed, or we can vote you curbside. If you are a student away at college, we can mail you a ballot. If you are military or overseas, fill out a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) and email it to anita.wray@madison-co.com.

CAN I DO A CURBSIDE ABSENTEE VOTE?
For those who are disabled and struggle with mobility, we will be happy to vote you curbside. When you arrive, please pull into a parking spot and call our office. Let us know you would like to vote curbside, give us your name, and tell us what vehicle you are in. Have your ID ready. Curbside is not available for those who are unimpaired.

DOES MY ABSENTEE VOTE COUNT?
Yes, your vote will count if you mail it back properly, it is postmarked by election day, and we are in receipt of the ballot within 5 working days of the election. Absentee ballots are opened and scanned by a resolution committee at 7:00 pm of the night of the election. Due to the number of ballots, counting might be extended to the next day. All results are unofficial until every vote is counted.
